Abstract
Experiments are carried out on the biological toxicity of the venom of striped coral snake inhabiting Amami Oshima Island.
1. The venom are neurotoxic, causes death under a severe respiratory disturbance in inoculeted mice and does not produce remarkable morphological changes.
2. And has strong thermo-stabillity unaffected by 100°C. for 40 minutes of heating.
3. Ionizing zinc slightly reduce the toxicity of the venom, but E. D. T. A., as chelating agent, does not effective.
4. The lethal action of the venom are inhibited by aqueous solution of tannic acid.
