Abstract
Bioconjugation of enzyme on phospholipid polymer microparticles for the preparation of biofuel cell was investigated in this work. Amphiphilic phospholipid polymer, poly (2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC)-co-n-butyl methacrylate (BMA)-co-p-nitrophenyloxycarbonyl polyethyleneglycol methacrylate (MEONP)-co-vinylferrocene (VFc)) (PMBNF) which has excellent biocompatibility and electron transfer ability, was synthesized by conventional radical polymerization. The PMBNF was coated on the surface of polystyrene (PS) microparticles. The concentration of the PMBNF in the coating solution was determined as 0.05 wt%. When the model enzyme glucose oxidase (GOx) was immobilized on the surface of PMBNF polymer microparticles, high activity of enzyme could be retained for long-term. The surface of the PMBNF polymer microparticles could reduce protein adsorption well due to the MPC unit coated on the surface.
