Abstract

The ultra-miniature tube type quartz resonator unit was developed. This resonator unit of only lmm in diameter is exceedingly small in size in comparison with the conventional resonator unit, excellent in mass-productivity and facilitates to design the thin and miniature wristwatches. This ultra-miniature resonator unit is realized by the development of the resonator chip produced by the sophisticated lithographic technique, the optimum design of the miniature unit parts and the sophisticated assembling and adjusting techniques. Several problems attended with the miniaturization of the resonator unit, such as deterioration of the performance by the out-gas from the unit interior, were solved and the reliability equivalent to the conventional unit was successfully ensured.
