Abstract
In 400 diabetic patients, 276 patients (69.2 percent) were found to have the diabetic neuropathy when its diagnosis was made by absent or diminished Achilles and/or patellar reflexes.
The incidence of diabetic neuropathy was high in the patients with severe as well as long-term diabetics, which corresponded with the reports of most other investigators.
It was very interesting that the concentration of the ketone bodies in the blood was markedly increased in the patients with diabetic neuropathy, though both of pyruvic acid and lactic acid were not increased in these patients.
