The brain is a computational organ that uses membrane potential to compute and exchange information between neurons. Hence, membrane potential measurements are essential to probe brain function. Here, we introduce an optical measurement method using a voltage-sensitive dye (VSD) to assess its vulnerability. We will present a VSD imaging study regarding chronic and acute BPA applications on the hippocampal circuit activities. Also, we will show our single-photon wide-field recording technique can capture rare events, oscillation, and plasticity of a wide area of a neural circuit.
