Contribution of reporter gene transgenic rodents to toxicology

Abstract

Reporter gene mutation assay has been noted as an in vivo genotoxicity test considering ADME and target sites of test chemicals. However, this assay sometimes demonstrates incompatible results with those in vitro genotoxicity tests. In this presentation, further studies examined based on negative results of three known carcinogens in reporter gene mutations assays will be demonstrated. The outcomes in these studies contributed to understanding of their toxicological profiles. This implies that negative results in reporter gene mutation assays include various significance.
