Cell therapies have extraordinary promise - a living drug with the ability to localize, proliferate, activate or differentiate in ways that would be impossible for more passive therapeutics. To date more than 1,500 cell therapies have entered over 9,000 clinical trials around the world. Here, we collect the safety data that have been released from these trials to date and analyze the real world evidence to see what clinical hazards are most prevalent and most impactful. This gap analysis then informs our discovery toxicology strategy for the preclinical detection and de-risking for the next generation of cell therapies.
