We are organizing a symposium titled “potential of occupational pharmacists”. To understand how occupational pharmacist can contribute to occupational health, we focus on the recent revisions to the Industrial Safety and Health Act in Japan, particularly in relation to autonomous risk management of industrial chemicals. The topics cover various aspects of this field including 1) autonomous risk management of chemicals, 2) experience of enterprises with advanced occupational pharmacists, 3) education for occupational pharmacist in collaboration with insurance pharmacy, 4) education of occupational health in faculty of pharmacy in universities. This symposium will help participants gain a holistic view of occupational pharmacists and understand the problems to train occupational pharmacists.
