Abstract

The purpose of this study is to estimate the pressure and temperature distributions in the shock tube with a converging section. Since the pressure and temperature of the gas behind a shock wave which is reflected from the end wall of the shock tube with a converging section are greater than that without the section, it is possible that this region is able to apply to processing of material. The shock wave propagating in the converging section is reflected from the walls of the section, and the reflection of shock waves in the section is complicated. In this study, the numerical simulations of the shock wave propagation in the shock tube are performed in order to obtain the pressure and temperature distributions in the shock tube.
