An experimental study on assessing a change of mechanical performance of PC beam due to corrosion loss of steel tension bars

Abstract

There is a possibility of decreasing ultimate strength because of a decrease in effective concrete area due to the section loss of steel bar and the decrease in the pretension force when corrosion is caused in steel bars in the PC structure. In this study, the change in the mechanics performance of the PC beam where the section loss had been caused in steel bars was examined by the experiment. As a result, it has been understood that the ultimate strength of PC beam decreased more than design expected one, when the asymmetric section loss has been caused in steel bar.
