Abstract
There must be a close relation between warm feeling and thermal absorption property of fabrics. The warm feeling is felt at the moment when a part of finger skin touches the surface of the fabrics. In order to measure the heat absorption of fabrics, an apparatus has been developed, by which the transient property of the heat absorption can be measured. Twenty samples of woven fabrics for men's outerwears are measured about their heat absorption properties. On the other hand, the warm feeling is assessed for each of all the samples by six experts in hand evaluation and the all samples are ranked in order of warm feeling. Then, the inter relation has been investigated between the heat absorption properties and the warm feeling. It is concluded that the heat absorption property of fabrics is characterized by the maximum absoprtion rate of heat flow, qmax, and that qmax is closely related to warm feeling of fabrics.
