Abstract

A study has been made to investigate the relationships between test results of girdle fabrics by the practocal wear and those by the instrumental accelerated test.Three kinds of girdles, different in rigidity, have been chosen as samples. Fatigue curves of bursting due to a cyclic pressure have been obtained on the unlaundered, 20-and 40-time laundered girdle fabrics. The test results have revealed that :
(1) The degree of fatigue of laundered fabrics is much remarkable comparing to that of unlaundered fabrics.
(2) The values (m) of the shape factor of the Weibull distribution function have been calculated on the basis of the time required to break specimens and the number of broken specimens. The values m show that all the specimens are at the wearing stage. The values m decrease if a cyclic load comes near the breaking load Q1. The values m much increase if the load exceeds the critical fatigue.
(3) As shown in the table below, the values m obtained by the instrument are similar to those obtained by the practical wear. Thus, the degree of fatigue under cyclic loading by the instrument approximately corresponds to those of practical wear.
