Abstract
This article is a reproduction of the Technical Report HESC No.57 recently published by the Hand Evaluation and Standardization Committee. The Committee HESC has standardized the three primary hand expressions for men's winter suits and four for the summer suits, and very recently the six for women's thin fabrics for outer wears. These primary hands are expressed each of their feeling intensity by hand values. Many efforts have been devoted to link these primary hand values with the basic mechanical properties of fabrics by authors since 1974. The first formulas translating the characteristic values of the mechanical properties into the hand values were published in 1975 and since then, the investigations have been made to improve these translation formulas . In this article, the improved formulas recently developed are presented not only for the men's suit - fabrics but also for the women's thin fabrics. In addition, the formula translating the hand values into the total hand value is also introduced here.
