Abstract

The changes in dyeing properties of the variouscationic dyeable polyester fibers have been studied on the dyeing rate and the uptake of C. I. Basic Red 2, and the following results were obtained.
(1) The glass transition temperature of the atmospheric dyeable polyester fibers in water are 17∼27°C lower than that of the high pressure dyeable fibers (Tg 95°C).
(2) The temperature dependence of the diffusion coefficient for a basic dye obeys the Williams-Landel-Ferry equation.
(3) The diffusion coefficient of the atmospheric dyeable type are considerably higher than that of the high pressure dyeable type.
(4) The saturation value of the atmospheric andhigh pressure type fibers are 180-200 and 110 m. mol/kg, respectively.
