Abstract

To make yarns by high speed spinning using the rotating ring, We developed the new rotating ring system with sintered bearing metals. The characteristics of rotating ring in the range of high speed spinning (over 20, 000 rpm spindle speed) differ that in the range of medium and low speed speed spinning.
In this study, effects of the ratio of rotating ring speed to the spindle speed on the spinning tension, hairness and tensile properties of yarns are evaluated.
Results obtained are as follows.
1) The ratio of the rotating ring speed to the spindle speed has the optimum value which correspond to the spindle speed.
2) The abrasion of travelers is low in rotating ring system comparing with ordinary ring system, and 0.2-0.3 mg of abrasion is observed in the case that the ratio is 30% and the spindle is over 20, 000 rpm.
3) The amount of short hairness (1 mm) does not change with spindle speed, but the amount of long hairness (3 mm, 5 mm) increases with increasing spindle speed.
5) The strength and elongation of yarns obtained by using rotating ring system shows a slight decrease with increasing spindle speed.
