Abstract
Wool fabrics were treated with low temperature plasma and/or potassium tert-butuxide. The surface of thefabrics was analyzed by ESCA. It was found that thesurface of the fabrics is oxidized by the treatments and apart of the oxidized sulfur is removed when the fabrics are soaked in water. Shrink resistance property of thewool fabrics is correlated with contents of residual disulfide bonds on their surface rather than the contents ofthe oxidized sulfur.
