Abstract

Withering of planted 20-year-old Camellia hiemaris was found in a green belt of 70 m2 next to the parking area of Komatsu City Municipal Office, Ishikawa Prefecture. From the investigation in 2012, it was thought that the cause of the withering of a camellia was because growth of roots was inhibited by soil compaction from tread pressure. Upon the chemical analysis of the surface soil, it was suggested that strong acidity and low nourishment accelerated the withering.
