Abstract
Methane emissions from different castes of four species of termites were observed in Narathiwat, Thailand. The results show that reproductive castes (queen and king), soldier and immature, which cannot feed themselves, emit less methane than dose worker. Observed results suggest that the quality of their diet causes the difference in methane emission among the castes.
