Abstract
The purpose of this study was to prototype a scale for grasping clumsiness of junior high school students and to examine its reliability and validity. First, a questionnaire was conducted for teachers to extract question items, and then a questionnaire was created by following the steps when creating question items for this scale. After that, we conducted this survey on clumsiness among 692 first and second graders (1st grade; 349, 165 boys, 184 girls: 2nd grade; 343, 165 boys, 178 girls) enrolled in A junior high school.
As a result, a clumsiness scale consisting of 19 items of 4 factors of "ball skill", "fine movement", "general coordination", and "Physical sensory insufficiency motor ability" was constructed. This scale showed a constant α coefficient and retest reliability coefficient, and generally sufficient internal consistency was confirmed. In addition, among the exercise competence scales, the exercise competence / exercise control feeling and the sports commitment scale were used to examine the criteria-related validity of clumsiness scale, and it was confirmed that they had a certain validity. We examined the prospects for future research using the last developed scale. It is expected that the use of this scale at school sites in the future will help students with physical awkwardness to understand their feelings of trouble and provide specific support.
