Abstract
In order to improve the stability of a shaft-less centrifugal pump, a measurement method and a detecting algorithm of rotating attitudes of the impeller are reported in this paper. In the previous researches, the relationship between operating conditions and pressure fluctuation had been investigated through performance tests and pressure measurements. However, the detail of the variation of rotating attitudes according to flow rates hadn't been analyzed yet. In our research, the detecting algorithm and the geometrical location of displacement sensors and the impeller are discussed to investigate a rotating attitude. This proves that the unsteady motions of the floating impeller can be measured by five displacement sensors. Moreover, we developed the monitoring program to confirm the floating conditions on a computer display by the use of signals from displacement sensors. At the end, the availability of the detecting algorithm and the measurement method are confirmed through the displacement measurement.
