Abstract

Cross-flow wind turbine has inefficient part of swept area where the blades travel in the opposite direction to the wind. In our previous study, it was found that the separation flow near the edge of structure such as building could improve the aerodynamic performance for cross-flow wind turbine. In addition, by using a flow deflector the separation flow could be improved to make the aerodynamic performance even higher. Through this study, the optimum flow of cross-flow wind turbine was figured out.
In this study, the dual flow deflector casing for cross-flow wind turbine was invented to get the optimum flow in uniform flow. To figure out the influence of rotation angle of the casing on the aerodynamic performance of cross-flow wind turbine, the relationship between the rotation angle of the casing which range was±15 degree and the aerodynamic performance was investigated by experimental and numerical analysis.
