The effects of temperature on the development of the lawn grass cutworm, Spodoptera depravatcollected in the Boso Peninsula were examined. A linear relationship was found between the temperature for rearing eggs to pupae and the developmental rate (1/Developmental days) .However, survival rate was lower and emerged adults did not lay eggs at 30 and 35°C.
The threshold temperature for development from eggs to adult emergence was 11°C, and the cumulative heat units estimated by using the equations were 380 day-degrees from eggs to pupation and 550 day-degrees from eggs to adult emergence.
