Insecticidal Activity and Chemical Susceptibility of Nomuraea rileyi as the Pathogen to the Larvae of Lawn Cutworm, Spodoptera depravata

Abstract
To estimate the practical use of the entomopathogenic fungus Nomuraea riley to lawn grass cutworm, Spodoptera depravata the several assays of pathogenicity were conducted.
N. rileyi (strain SdNr-1) showed the highest mortality to the larvae of S. depravata compared with other entomopathogenic fungi such as B. bassiana. N. rileyi was pathogenic between 15 and 25°C, but infection proceeded slowly at 15°C. Furthermore, the infected larva formed numerous conidia on the surface of dead body.
In the pot test, N, rileyi was pathogenic under low dose application. These results show that N. rileyi can be used to the control the larvae of S. depravata.
However, N. rileyi was susceptible against synthetic insecticides and fungicides.
There was synergism of N. rileyi and synthetic insecticides, in shortening larval span of life.
