Abstract

Effects of mowing height of Zoysia matrella Men., thatch and top-dressing on the growth of crabgrass (Digitaria ciliaris (Retz.) Koeler) and annual bluegrass (Poa annua L.) were investigated by pot tests. Growth of both weeds was reduced with an increase in the mowing height, and this tendency was more remarkable in the fresh weight of shoots than in the number of plants and plant length. Plant height of both weeds was also reduced by thatch, however, there was no clear effect of top-dressing on the growth of the weeds.
