In 1973, a mosaic disease of Zoysia japonica Steud. is recognized on the golf course of Yachiyo country club, Hiroshima Prefecture. The symptoms were a mottling, rolling to outside at the edge of leaf and slight malformation. The disease is transmitted by approach grafting to Zoysia japonica Steud. and Zoysia materella (L.) Merr.. Therefore, this disease may be caused by a virus.
