Abstract

The system prototype includes scanner, lens and fiber optics, photomultiplier and TV monitor with frame memory. The scanner is a quantoscope-laser CRT with electromagnetic focus and deflection. CRT screen, or laser target, is a monocrystal semiconductor plate of useful area up to 35x35mm, emitting spot diameter and light peak power being 30μm and 2+5Wt, respectively. A tissue, preimpregnated with a special tumor cell identificator, is scanned by laser beam. Photoluminescence is registered by the photomultiplier and stored in the frame memory of the TV monitor. One can use any scanner emission wavelength in the range of 460-1500nm depending on the identificator absorption spectrum. The system offers accurate identification of the tumor contours and also location, number and size of the metastases.
