Dainamic tracking servo system for high density digital recording

Abstract

This paper proposes a method of new tracking control system for narrow track digital recording. We have developed wide band dynamic tracking system, using voice coil actuator to move the heads, as well as an observer to suppress the mechanical resonance As a result, the tracking of the recorded patterns at 6μm track pitch was realized. Moreover, a method for implementing the servo pilot signal in 12-15 modulation code was developed.
