Optimal Display Condition of Japanese Characters on the HDTV Monitor

Abstract

This paper describes on the optimum display conditions for Japanese text information together with pictures on a HDTV monitor. The 48×48 dots or more character sizes are desirable for good display condition. Edge processing and level processing of the background picture make the character display more visible. The best-to view-display condition has been proven the one subjected to edge processing in a grey background.
