Abstract

A new low bit-rate coding system has been developed for high-quality audio signal using sub-band coding with ADPCM in low frequency. Auditory characteristics of human ear is applied to this system for bit reduction. Total bit-rate is 96 or 128kbps/channel for emission and 120kbps/channel for distribution. The hardware consists of 32-bit floating-point Digital Signal Processors (TMS320C30). This system has been proposed to CCIR TG10/2.
