Abstract

In this article the author presents a brief survey of features of medical image processing in the next few years, which the author calls medical vision. A virtualized human body as a virtual environment in computer is the most important feature. It realizes navigation based diagnosis like the virtualized endoscope system, surgical simulation, and, intra-operative computer aides such as image guided surgery and augmented reality. Computer aided diagnosis and automated screening of medical images are another important item, and referred to very shortly. Screening by a 3D image is a novel application to be noted. Network applications like telemedicine and anatomical atlas as a kind of characteristic media in medicine are also described shortly.
