Abstract
With the developments of modern digital computers, several new approaches have been applied to the literature as well as language analysis. Statistical methodology is one of the most analysis popular tools employing the keywords hit rate as basic data. Statistical research on literature and language have suggested that the truth or falsehood of the text, word and character sequences through whole the target story or article is of paramount importance parameter in order to understand the structure and philosophical background of the target story or article. On the other side, statistical approach has made it possible to analysis the story or article but never reveal the emotional feeling stream of the major characters in the story along with the story progression. To overcome this difficulty, this paper applies a discrete wavelets multi-resolution analysis to "The Tale of Genji". As a result, it is verified that the consistency of the movement of feelings of love between the hero and the heroin in one episode in "The tale of Genji". Further, it is clarified that the hero's emotion fluctuates due to triflingness of the heartless attitude of the heroin. On the other hand, the heroin's feeling of love toward the hero appears more intense than that of him, although reasonable attitude on her face has been discerned.
