Abstract

In the present paper, the flow structure within five kinds of aneurysm models at different stage in the anterior communicating artery (ACoA) has been visualized in laminar steady flow by PIV. ACoA forming circle of Willis is one of the predilection sites of the cerebral aneurysm. Since the vascular disease such as aneurysm is apt to occur at the site where the flow impinges, the flow pattern is closely related to the initiation, development, and rupture of aneurysm. The relation between flow pattern and aspect ratio AR (= depth/ neck diameter of aneurysm) which indicates the progressive process of aneurysm is studied by flow visualization from the viewpoint of hemodynamics.
