Abstract

For the purpose of evaluating sub-sampled moving picture in temporal and spatial frequency domain, Kubota's visual evaluation function is applied. A performance of four kinds of sub-sampling method, i.e., temporal, horizontal, vertical and diagonal sub-sampling methods, are tested on 15 frame blocks (one frame block consists of 32 frames of the standard moving image "Miss America"). From results, it is found that the temporal sub-sampling occurs drastic interference in contrast with other three sub-sampling. The diagonal sampling method shows the best performance.
