A Study on the Possibility of Art and Handicraft Digital Textbook
—From Interviews to Elementary School Teachers

Abstract

This study is about possibility of Digital Textbook for teachers. The purpose of this study is to reveal how Digital Textbook should be in Art and Handicraft classes where real materials are mainly used, and possibility and remaining issue of using Digital Textbooks under the situation that Digital Textbook is being spread. In this study, interviews were conducted to 7 teachers (at 7 schools, in 6 areas) who usually use digital textbooks in there classes. This interview was based on papers and literatures by ARAI Noriko, ANDO Kyouichiro, KIM Masataka, and the researches which Japan Textbook Research Center conducted before. The results indicates the degree of teachers’ expectation for the contents and the construction, and that skills and abilities improved in classes tend to depend on contents in Digital Textbooks. It also implies that provision of ICT environment is necessary at classrooms.
