Abstract
Urban declining is causing serious problems which affect quality of life in local cities. There occurs, however, Citizen-led Machizukuri projects in such circumstances. It is the critical issue for the local governments to evaluate the projects adequately for their public policy. The purpose of this study is to measure the economic value of NPO Sekizen-nigiwaiyasiki's projects by using Contingent Valuation Method. This paper points out followings; 1) the recognition degree of the projects, the understanding degree of NPO institution, and the proximity of the project points to habitation area exert heavy influence of the willingness to pay (WTP), 2) the estimated mean WTP for the projects is 4,052yen, and 3) the total public benefit of the projects within Kazuno city is about 125 million yen.
