Abstract
In historical city, Kyoto, wooden house called Kyo-machiya is recognized as an important property, supporting the succession of housing culture, the local community and the cityscape appropriate to Kyoto's atmosphere. However, decrease of Kyo-machiya by 2 % per year was revealed through Kyo-machiya Community Building Survey. Thus, the succession of housing culture is facing difficulty. In this study, a case study was conducted on a large scale Kyo-machiya recently succeeded, and it examines the practical method on how to succeed the culture of Kyo-machiya.
