In this study, policies on the acceptance of labor immigrants in Japan are analyzed, with a focus on care workers. Four policies regarding acceptance of foreign care workers are analyzed: each policy was evaluated with respect to current situations and analyzed using quantitative data with a geographical perspective. The four policies are: EPA for accepting middle-skilled care worker candidates under the “Designated Activities” residence status; the “Nursing Care” residence status for accepting skilled care workers; the “Care Worker” occupation in the Technical Intern Training Program for accepting unskilled technical intern trainees; and the “Specified Skilled Worker (i)” residence status for accepting unskilled care workers.
