Abstract
In this study, 94 specimens representing 11 genera and 17 species of the family Silvanidae (Coleoptera) were intercepted in Japanese ports and airports. Among them, 10 species are not native to Japan, members of the genus Telephanus and Monanus subgenus Monanops are newly confirmed, 9 species are reported from imported material for the first time, and this is the first record of an interception of Monanus subgenus Monanops . Key characters for identification and relevant taxonomic information are included for all species. Also, the following changes were made on the fauna of Japanese Silvanidae: removal of the distribution previous Japanese records of the Taiwanese species Monanus antennatus Grouvelle and the more widespread Silvanus robustus Halstead are invalid. The Japanese record for S. robustus by Hirano (2009) more appropriately correspond to Silvanus lateritius (Broun) or Silvanus castaneus MacLeay.
