Veterinary nursing care of the weight loss management for a diabetes cat

Abstract

I present a case of a 13 year-old obese diabetes cat. Her weight 7.3 kg, measured body condition score(BCS)was 5 /5. This care plan is listed; 1 ) this case might avoid diabetic therapy foods, and 2 ) might go wrong running for weight loss program. We educated the owner about the importance of controlled diets and maintaining a healthy weight loss. Therefore, we made her weight loss management plan and diabetes monitoring logbook. We performed the food replacement during 4 weeks for enough time and this case could have diabetic therapy foods. The ideal program for weight loss and her diabetes monitoring logbook were good communicating tools between our team(veterinarian and veterinary nurse)and the owner. We could help that the owner getting and staying motivated for weight loss management and this case was able to meet weight-loss goals.
