Abstract

Medical Social Work (MSW) records have had more complex problems than social work records in general, resulting in the double recording of social work records and shared records. However, there are no studies that analyze MSW records for each progress record method and examines its problems. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to clarify each progress record method based on MSW record analysis and the problem of MSW recording. As a research method, I adopted the viewpoint of six items of the Life Model Recording method (F-SOAIP), which consisted of the elements covering the social work practice process.

As a result, it was clarified that three types of MSW records were used: narrative format, SOAP, and F-SOAIP, but none of the progress record methods clearly was apt to state assessments and support plans. In particular, it was clarified that it was remarkable in the narrative form. SOAP was described in various ways depending on the writer. F-SOAIP leads to visualization of the practical process if assessment, intervention, and support plan are specified, and it is shown that it may be a course recording method that is useful for both readers and writers of records from the viewpoint of record readability.
