Recent researches and developments by the authors in spatial audio for better music expression are introduced. In architectural acoustic design, auditory source width (ASW), which is an important characteristic of a sound image of psychological evaluations of sound fields, can be varied with modifying the wall shape. Electro-acoustic method is also useful for sound field control especially when architectural modification is limited. For multi-channel consumer audio system, novel method applying trans-aural technique can vary listener envelopment (LEV) so that a listener can be absorbed more in a reproduced content. Also for electronic orchestral music, more flexible method is proposed controlling direct and diffused component independently. Those controls of spatial audio can realize better expression of music.
