Abstract
A 3D point cloud is generated from the photos taken with an iPhone stereo camera, and a triangular mesh model is constructed from the point cloud using the k-nearest neighbor method after noise removal. Since this mesh model includes back and overlap faces, the number of polygons in the 3D model can be reduced by integrating overlapping triangles into a single polygon after backface removal using the normal vectors of the faces. This paper describes how to reduce the number of polygons.
