Abstract
The propulsive performance of a Series 60 ship model (C_b=0.70) is calculated according to Yamazaki's method. We treat a case where the ship model with a propeller is moving straight pitching and heaving in regular head waves with constant velocity by rotating the propeller with constant angular velocity. At first, the ship motions are calculated by Salvesen-Tuck-Faltinsen Method and then the added resistance due to the ship motions and bow reflections are calculated. At last we obtain the propulsion factors which are compared with Nakamura et al's experimental ones. Then we show Yamazaki's theory predict fairly well the behaviors of the propulsion factors in regular head waves.
