Abstract
This paper deals with the numerical analysis of shallow water behavior on deck of a ship. It is well known that the deck of the small vessels may remain awash in heavy seas. Statically and dynamically such free water on deck is one of the important factors for ship capsizing. Shallow water equations describing deck water dynamics are a non-linear system, and Random Choice Method (RCM) is one of the effective numerical techniques to solve its equations. The non-linear equations with the inhomogeneous terms based on tank-fixed coordinate system are represented and solved by using RCM and the similar technique to Sod's method which is known as operator splitting to remove the inhomogeneous terms from the equation system. A series of numerical calculations for the shallow water behavior on deck of a ship forced to oscillate are executed. As the results, it became known that shallow water behavior on deck of a ship forced to sway and roll may be simulated easily and cheaply.
