Abstract
The title compound, tetrachlorobis(thiosemicarbazium)cadmium(II), crystallises in the space group P21/n with a = 7.2251(3), b = 8.4082(2), c = 10.8501(2)Å, β = 96.211(2)°, Z = 2, V = 655.28(3)Å3. The crystal structure consists of discrete molecular units, CdCl4(tscH)2. The Cd atom located on an inversion center is octahedrally coordinated to four Cl and two thiosemicarbazium (tscH) S atoms. Because the organic ligand (tscH) is being protonated at the hydrazine group, N(tsc)-H…Cl hydrogen-bond bridges exist between molecular units, which lead to the formation of an infinite three-dimensional network.
