Abstract
The crystal structure of the title compound, L-(S)-tryptophane D-(R)-mandelate 1.5 hydrate, (I), has been determined. The structure shows molecular recognition in diastereomer salt. In the crystal packing, the hydrophobic and hydrophilic layers were well separated along the a-xis. One water molecule was located in the hydrophilic layer and another hemi water molecule was located in the hydrophobic layer with OH…π interactions, and they contributed to stability of the layers.
