Abstract
The structure of 2,2′-[(allylimino)diethane-2,1-diyl]bisphthalimide was determined by X-ray crystallography. The symmetry operation (-x+2, -y+1, -z) generates the whole molecule. The compound crystallized in a monoclinic system, and was characterized thus: P21/n, a = 8.013(6)Å, b = 32.731(7)Å, c = 8.485(2)Å, β = 113.50(4)°, Z = 4, V = 2040.8(17)Å3. The crystal structure was solved by direct methods and refined by full-matrix least-squares on F2 to final values of R1 = 0.0654 and wR2 = 0.1665.
