Cation distributions in manganese zinc ferrites, which take spinel-type structure, were examined by Mn Kβ X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectra observed using a wavelength-dispersive spectrometer. Each of MnFe2O4 and Mn0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 was prepared by two different kinds of low-temperature synthesis methods, and the intensities of Kβ'satellite line and Kβ5 line of the products were compared. It was obvious that Mn0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 prepared by precipitation from aqueous solution has more trivalent Mn cations in B-site than that prepared by mechanochemical synthesis, and it may have larger magnetic moment. The result of magnetization measurement is consistent with the observation.
