Abstract

A laboratory-use high-resolution X-ray spectrometer, where spherically-bent crystal analyzers are employed around 80° of Bragg angles, was constructed to measure Kβ1,3 emission spectra of Cr and Fe compounds. Spectral changes, including chemical shifts of ~1 eV, were clearly observed on several standard materials. These results show that the developed spectrometer is usable to preliminary measurements for chemical analyses at synchrotron radiation facilities, and even can be partially alternative to them for samples with Cr/Fe concentration as low as a few mol%. As examples, chemical states of Cr in Cr(OH)3 gels dried and calcined and the states of Fe in Fe compounds formed in water glass were examined by using the laboratory-use spectrometer.
