Abstract
Particle counting of Yaba virus purified from infected JINET cell cultures indicated that one OD unit at 2, 600Å corresponds to (1.2±0.2) ×1010 particles. Infectivity of purified Yaba virus as determined by an improved focus-counting method indicated that one focus-forming unit corresponded to 500 to 800 physical particles, when JINET cells of lower passages were used for the assay. One complement-fixing unit against a Yaba virus-infected cynomolgus monkey serum corresponded to (3.0±0.8) ×109 particles.
